For schools and colleges

If a family has sent you an Edway link or a printed Edway record, this page explains what it is, how to check it in a few seconds, and what it does and does not tell you.
What Edway is
Edway is a learning platform used by home-educating families in the UK. Children work through Maths, English and Science topics mapped to GCSE specifications (Pearson Edexcel 1MA1 for Maths, AQA 8700 for English Language and AQA 8464 for Combined Science). Edway is not a school and is not an exam centre. It does not award qualifications.
The School Re-entry Passport
A Passport is a record of a learner's progress on Edway that a parent has reviewed and sealed. The parent chooses what goes in it. Each Passport has a version number and its own web address.
To check one, open the link the family gave you. The page shows one of these:
- Genuine and current. This is the family's latest version. Everything on the page is exactly what was sealed.
- Genuine, but superseded. The record is real, but the family has issued a newer version. Ask them for the latest link.
- Withdrawn by the family. The family has withdrawn this link. Its content is no longer shown.
- This record is not available. The link is wrong or the record has been removed.
You do not need an account, and you do not need to upload anything. If you were given a printout, compare it with the web page: the page is the record.
What a Passport shows
- The learner's first name only.
- For each subject, how many GCSE specification topics the learner has certified, out of the number Edway teaches for that subject, with the date each was certified.
- If the parent chose to include them: a separate count of pre-GCSE foundation topics, the indicative band from the latest Edway practice mock, and comments from an Edway tutor.
It never shows a date of birth, a surname, an address, contact details, information about additional needs, or photographs of the learner's work.
What Edway can and cannot confirm
This record was compiled by Edway from the learner's activity on the Edway platform and sealed at the parent's request. GCSE-specification topics are certified when the learner answers a 3-question mastery check fully correctly. Practice mock bands are Edway's indicative estimates from short auto-marked papers, not grades awarded by an exam board. Edway is not an exam centre.
A practice mock on Edway is a short, timed, automatically marked paper. Its band is an estimate to help the family plan. It is not a predicted grade from a teacher and it is not a grade awarded by an exam board.
Mastery certificates
A family may also show you a certificate for a single topic or a whole subject. Each certificate carries a 64-character code. Enter it on the certificate check page to confirm the certificate is genuine and to see the facts it records: the learner's first name, the topic, the subject and the date.
Questions
If something on a record is unclear, or a check fails when you think it should not, email hello@edway.uk. We can confirm whether a record is genuine. We cannot discuss a learner without the family's agreement.
